Every now and then we receive a project that is not only a challenge
but also a rewarding experience. This is one of those projects.
Revered for its simplicity, and used by Generals and High Ranking Officers
of the military of the USA. This is projected provided a great experience in balancing form
with function.
This project is created as a planning tool for the military. The Defense
Intelligence Agency (DIA) needed a way to quickly browse for a deployed personnel to
see where someone was currently deployed, how much time was left in their
deployment, who their superiors were, where they were stationed next, and the
individual who succeeded them. All while being displayed on a real time rendered map.
I wanted to provide the user with an experience of an everyday modern app,
one you would see on the iPhone or iPad. I planned and designed the user interface
to be as intuitive as possible, while giving them the detailed information needed
for their jobs, by providing dashboards, quick looks, and side bars. I personified the
user, the possible mistakes, I even took into account color blindness factors in the
the colors of the application.
I had the honor of leading the product from concept, requirements, to wireframes, storyboards,
mockups, prototypes, and finally assisting in the final production.
